Description

1879 5C PR66 Cameo PCGS. The low mintage of 1879 business strikes (just 25,900 pieces) makes proofs of this year a popular alternative among date collectors. This is an attractive high-end example, with deeply mirrored fields and frost-white devices on each side. Faint speckles of creamy-gold color are visible only under magnification. Population: 13 in 66 Cameo, 3 finer (4/14).
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2005), lot 5929.
