Description
NGC 1879 PR 65. While the proofs are no scarcer than other dates in the Shield nickel series, there is more date pressure on the proofs from 1879 through 1881 because of the scarcity of business strikes. Well mirrored, the silvery-gray surfaces show a bit of light patina scattered about on each side. We urge prospective bidders to examine this lot carefully as it appears there might be an 8 beneath the 9 in the date.
