Description
NGC 1879/8 PR 65. In the history of proof American coinage, it is highly unusual for the mint to rehub the date from the previous year to a new one. This is one of only two examples of this oddity, the other being the 1887/6 three-cent nickel. This specimen is bright and untoned with only a couple of minor carbon flecks in the fields.
