Description

1879/8 5C PR66 NGC. The otherwise brilliant surfaces show just the slightest accent of rose-gray patina on the reverse. The fields are deeply mirrored and the devices lightly contrasted, more so on the obverse than the reverse. Always a popular issue as one of the few overdated proof coins from the 19th century.
