1882 Shield Nickel, PR66
Rare Deep Cameo Example
1882 5C PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS. The mintage of 3,100 proofs
suggests more high-grade pieces should exist, but PCGS and NGC each
have seen just four Deep Cameo coins in Premium Gem condition or
finer. This excellent example is framed by a thin margin of
almond-gold toning. Fully struck devices show strong contrast with
the deep, mirrored-silver fields. There are no carbon flecks or
other marks, although a glass reveals some tiny, cloudy freckles
across the surfaces. Population: 2 in 66 Deep Cameo, 2 finer
