1882 Shield Nickel, PR68 Cameo
None Finer in Any Proof Finish

1882 5C PR68 Cameo NGC. A large circulation strike mintage of 11.4 million pieces was supplemented by 3,100 proofs, of which none are numerically finer than this remarkable PR68 Cameo. Nickel-gray mirrored fields have a bluish tint, and are faintly iridescent when viewed at an angle -- deeply reflective throughout both sides. Richly frosted devices provide blatant contrast with the glassy-smooth mirrors. This is a sharply struck and essentially flawless Cameo proof of seemingly unimprovable quality. Tied with two other PR68 Cameo coins -- one at each service. NGC Census: 2 in 68 Cameo, 0 finer (10/19).(Registry values: N4719)
