PR67 Cameo 1883 Shield Nickel

1883 5C PR67 Cameo NGC. 1883 was a transitional year, with Chief Engraver Charles Barber's Liberty nickel replacing predecessor Longacre's Shield nickel. The design change and publicity regarding the No Cents design led to higher proof mintages, yet Superb Gems remain scarce. This is a lustrous and faintly toned specimen that has an intricate strike and essentially pristine surfaces. The date shows traces of recutting. Census: 13 in 67 Cameo, 0 finer (11/08).
