1867 Three Cent Nickel, PR67+ Ultra Cameo
Finest Certified, Single Finest at CAC
1867 3CN PR67+ Ultra Cameo NGC. CAC. When one looks over the
mintages for proof three cent nickels it is immediately apparent
that earlier years had significantly fewer proofs produced than
later years. For the astute collector, this presents an important
opportunity. The 1867 has a recorded mintage of only 625 pieces,
but only six coins have been certified as Ultra Cameo by NGC, with
the present lot the sole such specimen to attain the MS67+ level.
The fields display deeply reflective mirrors while the devices show
thick mint frost that results in the Ultra Cameo appearance of the
coin. Just the slightest hint of pale rose toning is seen over each
side. Census: 1 in 67 Ultra Cameo (1 in 67+), 0 finer. CAC: 1 in
