Description

1868 Three Cent Nickel, PR66+ Deep Cameo
Low-Mintage Proof Date

1868 3CN PR66+ Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. The three cent nickel series is interesting and all-too-often overlooked. Collectors can choose between proofs, which are scarce in the early years, or circulation strikes that are very seldom seen in the later years. Only 600 or so proofs were produced of the 1868 in proof format. This is one of the finest. The surfaces are brilliant and the frosted devices show ultimate contrast against the illimitable depth of mirroring in the fields. Exceptional quality throughout. Population: 4 in 66+ Deep Cameo, 0 finer (7/13).(Registry values: P3)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 275N, PCGS# 93764, Greysheet# 2801)
