Rare Contrasted Proof
1869 3CN JD-1, High R.2, PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. Ex: TDP
Collection. The early three cent nickel pieces are rarely
encountered with field-to-device contrast, especially as strong as
it is seen on this Superb Gem Ultra Cameo proof. This piece has
brilliant light gray surfaces with fully lustrous, mirrored fields
and frosted, sharply detailed devices. A solitary pinpoint spot on
the left obverse field will assist in tracking the provenance.
