Description

Outstanding 1875 Three Cent Nickel, PR66 Cameo

1875 3CN PR66 Cameo PCGS. An estimated 700 or so proof three cent nickels were produced in 1875. A goodly number have apparently survived, as PCGS and NGC have certified more than 400 examples. Only about 20 pieces have been classified as Cameos. The Premium Gem Cameo being offered in this lot displays freckles of gold color that show up under magnification, and yields stunning field-motif contrast, especially when the coin is rotated under a light source. The design elements are exquisitely defined, befitting a proof striking; all of the lines in the III are fully separated. Close inspection reveals no mentionable marks. Population: 3 in 66 Cameo, 0 finer (8/07).(Registry values: P3)
