Description
Lovely Proof 1877 Three Cent Piece
1877 3CN PR66 PCGS. Breen-2437. A small projection extends up from the lower left part of the final 7, which prompted Walter Breen and others to describe this variety as an "1877/6" overdate. This is a lovely Premium Gem proof with exquisite nickel gray color and sharp design details. Both sides have excellent contrast between the fields and devices, although it is not designated as a Cameo example by PCGS. The 1877 three cent nickel is a proof only variety from a limited mintage, usually reported as 510 pieces, although the real total was undoubtedly higher. Population: 48 in 66, 3 finer (4/06).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 275X, PCGS# 3773, Greysheet# 2826)
