Description

1877 Three Cent Nickel, PR66
Almond-Gold Key Date

1877 3CN PR66 PCGS. A lack of demand for circulating minor coinage resulted in the production of only 900 three cent nickel pieces in 1877, all in proof format. That makes this one of the most sought-after keys in the series. Almond-gold patina blankets watery, partly contrasted surfaces. Contact is virtually unseen without a glass. There are just four higher-graded non-Cameo submissions at PCGS (1/18).(Registry values: N2998)
