Description

1877 Three Cent Nickel, PR67 Cameo
Key Date, Nearly Unimprovable

1877 3CN PR67 Cameo PCGS. CAC. JD-1, Low R.2. The 1877 three cent nickel, long recognized as a key issue because of its low mintage, limited availability, and proof-only status, has remained high on collectors' want lists. The frosty motifs of this Superb Gem Cameo stand out against the mirrored fields at all angles and display sharp definition, including fullness in the beads on the crown and in the lines of the III. The impeccably preserved surfaces are essentially untoned. This piece, an exceptionally beautiful example, is virtually unimprovable. Population: 19 in 67 (4 in 67+) Cameo, 1 finer. CAC: 18 in 67, 0 finer (2/24).
