1879 Three Cent Nickel, PR68 ★
Brilliant With Frost on the Devices
1879 3CN PR68 ★ NGC. This gorgeous specimen displays
razor-sharp striking definition throughout, and slight
incompleteness on a few of the lower reverse design elements is
merely the result of overzealous die polish. The untoned
silver-gray surfaces are flashy and pristine, with glassy
reflectivity in the fields and intense mint frost on the devices. A
great proof example that is the only PR68 ★ coin at NGC,
with none finer (1/14).Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2009), lot 1352, which realized $4,600.(Registry values: N2998)
