1885 Three Cent Nickel
1885 3CN PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. The 1885 proof three cent nickel,
while not a particularly scarce issue overall, is popular thanks to
its association with the same year's business strike mintage of
just 1,000 pieces. More than that, condition rarity is key to this
remarkably well-preserved coin's eye appeal. Among Cameo specimens
of the issue known to NGC and PCGS, this is the only PR68
coin certified with none finer (9/09); that NGC gave it a
well-deserved Star designation is simply icing on the cake. Just a
blush of champagne-rose toning visits the centers, where thick
frost drapes the devices, and the gleaming mirrors are
