Description

1854 Three Cent Silver, PR64
Bright Iridescent Surfaces

1854 3CS PR64 PCGS. The 1854 is the first year of the new Type Two design, signified by two extra outlines around the star and the addition of the olive branch and bundle of arrows on the reverse. An unknown, but small number of proofs were struck. The best guess of the number extant is in the range of 12 to 20 pieces, and few are finer than PR64. This is a nicely mirrored example that has pronounced multicolored iridescence over each side. The strike is strong throughout, as one would expect from a proof but is seldom seen on strikes for circulation. Population: 7 in 64 (1 in 64+), 3 finer (11/13).(Registry values: N7079)
