1856 Three Cent, PR66
Variegated Array of Colors
Scarce Proof Strike
1856 3CS PR66 NGC. The three-cent pieces dated 1854 to 1858
have two lines bordering the the six-pointed star. Here, the
smallest of all Untied States silver coins is imbued with a
scintillating array of colors that grace the surfaces of this
trime, ranging from apricot to steel blue to russet. The reverse
appears bejeweled in areas of mustard, lime-green, and
electric-blue, creating stunning eye appeal. About 40 to 50
examples of this proof issue survive, but the original mintage is
unknown, as the Mint did not start publishing those figures until
