Description

1856 3CS PR64 PCGS. We do not know how many proof Three Cent Silvers were produced in 1856, but Breen (1977) does speculate that 30-40 pieces are extant. Since several of the survivors are impaired to one degree or another, the present near-Gem is undoubtedly one of the finer representatives available to today's specialists. This is a richly toned, cobalt-blue example with hints of underlying reflectivity and solid striking definition.
