    1860 Three Cent Silver, PR66
    Richly Toned, Condition Census Proof

1860 3CS PR66 PCGS. Ex: Simpson. The 1860 three cent silver business strike is scarcer in high grade than later Type Three issues, adding date pressure on the proof issue. However, the proof coin is also scarcer in high grade than many later proofs. This is a recipe for high demand and strong prices when a proof 1860 coin comes up for auction. The present example is within the Condition Census for the issue. PCGS has seen only three other 1860 proofs in this grade, with a single coin finer (4/20). Rainbow toning and reflective fields produce strong eye appeal, and a touch of the usual strike softness on the central shield and the olive branch hardly detracts. Population: 4 in 66, 1 finer (4/20).
