    Description

Deeply Toned PR65 1860 Three Cent Silver

1860 3CS Three Cent Silver PR65 NGC. CAC (Green Label). Breen lists the three cent silver proofs of this date as having a mintage of 1,000 pieces, but after melting only 538+ are believed known. The date is heavily punched into the die, as on all proofs of this date. The surfaces are essentially free from post-striking defects, but do show a couple of shallow planchet flakes on the obverse and slight weakness on the laurel leaves on the reverse. The fields are deeply mirrored and each side has deep sea-green toning with slight accents of rose.(Registry values: N2998)
