Description

1863/2 Three Cent Silver, PR63
Controversial Overdate, CAC

1863/2 3CS PR63 PCGS. CAC. This Guide Book variety is unlisted in the Cherrypickers' reference. Low-power magnification reveals remnants of a 2 beneath the 3 in the date (or possibly some other artifact within the 3). PCGS has certified just 38 examples in all grades (9/19), though NGC does not currently attribute the variety. This sharply struck representative exhibits deeply mirrored fields and softly frosted devices. Light lavender-blue and green-gold hues color the surfaces, with only a few faint hairlines defining the grade. CAC endorsement adds to the appeal.
