Only 500 Examples Struck
1865 3CS PR66 NGC. This low-mintage date had a proof
emission limited to only 500 pieces. Unlike many proof three cent
silver pieces from this decade, this piece does not have heavy
toning. Its brilliant surfaces allow the bright proof mirrors to
strongly flash over each side. A curious die crack is seen on the
obverse at 7 o'clock. Census: 16 in 66, 7 finer (6/12).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27CB, PCGS# 3715, GSID# 3682)
