Description

1869 3CS PR61 ANACS. Ex: Ted Clark Collection. Breen-2960. This variety is the 1869/8, however, the ANACS insert does not identify the coin as such even though it attributes the piece as a Breen-2960. Evidence of the 8 underdigit is very faint, but the differently shaped 6 is quite easy to see. Discovered by Don Taxay around 1962. Clark's flip that accompanies the coin has various notes written on it and refers to Breen's comments in the 11/75 GENA Sale. The centers are gray-brilliant with golden peripheries and good reflectivity in the fields.
Ex: AAA Sale (11/74), lot 750.
