Appealing 1869 Three Cent Silver, PR65 Cameo
1869 3CS PR65 Cameo NGC. A relatively large number of 1869 proof trimes have survived from an initial mintage of 600 pieces, judging from the 350 or so coins certified by NGC and PCGS. The two services have assigned the Cameo designation to only about 30 examples, however. Pronounced field-motif contrast characterizes the Gem Cameo in this lot. A powerful strike adds to the coin's appeal, as do the impeccably preserved, essentially untoned surfaces.
