Description

1869/'8' Three Cent Silver, PR66+
High-End Piece, Vibrantly Toned

1869/'8' 3CS PR66+ PCGS. Flynn-RPD-001. This is the usual proof variety for the 1869 three cent silver issue, with an artifact above the lower loop of the 6 and a diagonal die line sloping up within the shield recesses. From the 600 proofs struck, this Plus-graded Premium Gem exhibits flashy, reflective fields toned in a vibrant blend of plum, champagne, amber and emerald. The luminous devices are well-struck and yield stark contrast against the smooth fields. PCGS reports only five numerically finer examples in non-Cameo (3/26).(Registry values: N1793)
