Exquisite 1872 Three Cent Silver, PR66

1872 3CS PR66 PCGS. A thin coat of iridescent reddish-gold color is joined by an occasional speckle of cobalt-blue, and the exquisite design delineation befits a proof striking. There are no significant marks on either side. Frosted motifs offer a pleasing contrast with deeply mirrored fields. The 1872 proof issue, with a mintage of 950 pieces, is in demand from date collectors, as only 1,000 business strikes were produced. Population: 14 in 66, 2 finer (6/07).(Registry values: N1793)
