Superb Cameo Gem 1872 Three Cent Silver
1872 3CS PR67 Cameo NGC. A single die pair was used to coin the business strikes and proofs of 1872. Business strikes are extremely rare, while proofs are scarce but available. Soon after they were struck, and continuing into the early 20th century, collector demand was for proof coins, so most Philadelphia Mint business strikes simply entered circulation. Today, emphasis is on separate collections that are consistent, either business strike or proof. For the advanced specialist who desires a complete set of proof three cent silver coins, this is an excellent opportunity.
