    Description

    1884 Three Dollar Gold, PR60
    Important for Date Collectors

1884 $3 PR60 NGC. With the rarity of 1884 business strikes, additional pressure from date collectors adds to the demand for proofs. This PR60 example displays sharp eye appeal for the grade, with glossy surfaces and only moderate contrast with the devices. Attractive orange-gold patina deepens at the borders. The proof mintage of 106 pieces shows a survival rate between 50 and 60 percent, enough to probably outnumber surviving business strikes for the date. Census: 2 in 60, 4 finer (8/16).(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28AT, PCGS# 8048)

    Weight: 5.02 grams
