    Description

Important Select Proof 1884 Three Dollar Gold Piece

1884 $3 PR63 PCGS. Proof mintages for the waning years of this series saw growth even as business-strike production fell to nominal figures. For example, the 106 proof specimens of 1884 stack up against a mere 1,000 business strikes. This is a slightly hazy gold-orange representative that has modest reflectivity and a modicum of contrast where the fields are unclouded. Light hairlines and contact, including a sinuous mark that extends from the chin, account for the grade. Housed in a first-generation holder. Population: 6 in 63, 25 finer (12/06).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28AT, PCGS# 8048)

    Weight: 5.02 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
