Select Cameo Proof 1887 Three Dollar

1887 $3 PR63 Cameo PCGS. CAC. With an official mintage of 160 specimens and significantly over half of those coins still extant today, the 1887 is among the most accessible proof three dollar gold issues. Though lightly hairlined, most visibly off the U of UNITED, this Select specimen is pleasing overall, thanks to quality field-to-device contrast. Yellow-gold is the dominant color, though a prominent reddish-brown copper area is noted just below the tip of Liberty's bust. Parts of the obverse and much of the reverse fields show the "orange-peel" texture associated with proof gold coinage. Population: 3 in 63 Cameo, 15 finer (4/12).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28AW, PCGS# 88051)

    Weight: 5.02 grams
