1889 Three Dollar Gold, PR63 Cameo
    Popular Final-Date Type Coin

1889 $3 PR63 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The three dollar gold denomination limped along for more than a third of a century before an 1890 act put it out of its misery. The last coins with a face value of three dollars, 2,300 business strikes and 129 proofs, had been struck the year before. This Select Cameo proof from that final date has clear and considerable contrast between yellow-orange fields and moderately frosted devices. The obverse has a field scuff to the left of Liberty's nose and light hairlines, but the reverse with its date and denomination displays well. Population: 3 in 63 Cameo, 15 finer (10/13).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28AY, PCGS# 88053)

    Weight: 5.02 grams

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
