Attractive Proof 1889 Three Dollar, PR64

1889 $3 PR64 PCGS. The 1889 is the final year of issue for the Three Dollar denomination. Only 129 proofs were issued and of that number it has been reliably estimated that today fewer than half survive. This is a sparkling, deeply mirrored example that shows no obvious surface impairments. Just the lightest trace of hairlines are evident on each side, this coin appearing finer than the PR64 we offered in our 1997 FUN Sale. Light contrast is seen on each side with modest mint frost over the devices, setting up a moderate cameo effect. Population: 42 in 64, 10 finer (5/02).

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
