    First Year of Issue

    1873 T$1 PR64 PCGS. CAC. This first-year proof Trade dollar enjoys a smallish mintage of 600 or 865 pieces, the total depending on which researcher one consults. Every element of William Barber's design is as sharp as expected. Minimal golden toning graces the borders, leaving the interiors brilliant and contrasted. A long, as-made die scratch travels through the lower part of Liberty's gown above the ankle. Population: 30 in 64, 7 finer. CAC: 6 in 64, 2 finer (3/19).
