    Description

    1873 Trade Dollar, PR64
    First-Year Issue

1873 T$1 PR64 PCGS. Type One Obverse and Reverse. The exact number of proof Trade dollars minted in 1873 is widely debated, though most agree the total is either 600 or 865 pieces. Whatever the case, 1873 proof Trade dollars were not widely popular, and many ended up in circulation or were carelessly stored, contributing to the issue's stance as the scarcest pre-1884 proof Trade dollar in higher grades. This example displays moderate mirroring in the fields, with dusky golden-gray patina over each side. The strike is generally well-defined, though some minor, typical weakness is noted on Liberty's head and the eagle's talons. Population: 30 in 64, 7 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27YJ, PCGS# 7053)

    Weight: 27.22 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
