Description
Choice Proof 1876 Trade Dollar
Dramatic Toning Pattern
1876 T$1 PR64 PCGS. Type One Obverse, Type Two Reverse. The
U.S. Centennial year of 1876 saw a proof mintage of 1,150 Trade
dollars. Many examples were sold to the general public as
souvenirs, and the date is represented by a larger than expected
number of mishandled pieces. The present coin is toned in a
dramatic, uneven pattern, with the upper two thirds displaying a
light silver-gray patina, while the lower third is a darker
bluish-gray. The design is well struck throughout. Population: 51
in 64, 19 finer (7/10).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27YM, PCGS# 7056, GSID# 7398)
