Description

1877 Trade Dollar, Border-Toned PR64
Substantial Field/Device Contrast, CAC

1877 T$1 PR64 NGC. CAC. Scarce in high grades from a small reported mintage of just 510 proofs, the 1877 Trade dollar commands a premium among collectors. This is a lovely near-Gem example. Frosted devices are set on deeply mirrored fields, with a band of rich, amber-gold toning at the margins, plus occasional light-blue accents at the rims. A few tiny marks and wispy hairlines are visible under a loupe. Liberty's hair over the ear shows slight blending of the strands, but all else is sharply struck throughout both sides. Strong eye appeal helps earn the CAC endorsement. Census: 58 in 64, 23 finer. CAC: 4 in 64, 11 finer (3/19).
