Description

1877 Trade Dollar, Sharply Struck PR65
Moderate Field-Motif Contrast

1877 T$1 PR65 PCGS. This splendid example is nearly devoid of toning. The fields are reflective and the devices are nicely frosted, yielding moderate contrast on each side. Sharply struck, and rare in such high quality. Only 510 proofs were struck of the 1877 proof Trade dollar, the lowest output of proofs other than the ultra-rare 1884 and 1885. Housed in an older green-label holder. Really impressive aesthetic appeal. Population: 16 in 65, 6 finer (4/14).
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4,2002), lot 4123; Dallas Signature (Heritage, 11/2005), lot 5182; Dallas Signature (Heritage, 11/2007), lot 988.
