Description

1877 Trade Dollar, Toned PR66
Conditionally Rare

1877 T$1 PR66 PCGS. After the near-record proof dollar coinage in 1876, the 1877 proof Trade dollar had a modest 510-coin mintage that contributes to this date's scarcity in high grade today. With or without a Cameo designation, Gems are rare, and Premium Gems are exceedingly so. The present example displays a sharp strike and reflective fields with warm sun-gold toning that shows hints of lavender throughout. No obvious distractions are identified. Only a handful of numerically finer pieces are known, Cameos and Deep Cameos included. Population: 6 in 66, 2 finer (11/16).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27YN, PCGS# 7057, Greysheet# 7401)

Weight: 27.22 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
