    Description

    1878 Trade Dollar, PR65 Cameo
    Sharp and Well-Contrasted

1878 T$1 PR65 Cameo NGC. Carson City and San Francisco continued to coin circulation-strike Trade dollars into early 1878 before new dies arrived for the resurrected Standard Silver dollar, which had been discontinued in 1873. Philadelphia, however, struck only proofs this year, to the tune of 900 pieces. This Gem Cameo survivor displays fully struck design elements and stark contrast. The interiors are brilliant, surrounded by a trace of pale golden border toning. There is a small fleck under Liberty's outstretched hand, but no other imperfections are significant enough to act as pedigree markers. Census: 28 in 65 Cameo (3 in 65 , 1 in 65+ ), 8 finer (7/19).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 27YP, PCGS# 87058)

    Weight: 27.22 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
