1879 Trade Dollar, PR63
Nearly Untoned and Attractive for the Grade
1879 T$1 PR63 NGC. First of the proof-only dates in the
Trade dollar series, the 1879 had a mintage of 1,541 pieces. This
example is almost untoned with just a hint of slight reddish patina
on each side. The devices are noticeably frosted, and against the
depth of mirrored reflectivity in the fields a slight but
unacknowledged bit of contrast exists. A pleasing example in this
