Description

1879 Trade Dollar, PR64 Cameo
A Dazzling Example

1879 T$1 PR64 Cameo PCGS. There was a Trade dollar boom in 1879, actually late 1879, that was reflected in an enormous production of 581 proofs in December of that year. This is a lovely, high-grade example that is brilliant throughout. The fields are deeply mirrored and the devices show sharply contrasting mint frost that yields the two-toned Cameo effect. A few faint hairlines and a single smudge of dark color near the eagle's right (facing) claw are all that keep this from the PR65 category. Population: 36 in 64 Cameo, 22 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N2998)
