Description

1879 Trade Dollar, PR64
Iridescently Toned

1879 T$1 PR64 PCGS. After the end of circulation-strike Trade dollar coinage in 1878, the Philadelphia Mint continued to manufacture proofs for collectors. This near-Gem proof, which hails from one of the earlier proof-only issues, has rich gold-orange, ocean-blue, magenta, and violet patina across each side. Boldly struck with only a few scattered flaws in the fields.
Ex: Summer FUN Signature (Heritage, 6/2008), lot 1274.
