Splendid 1879 Trade Dollar, Choice Proof
1879 T$1 PR64 PCGS. Deep gunmetal-gray patina covers the remarkably unabraded surfaces. Although the toning partly obscures the luster, a watery sheen becomes clear under a lamp. This fully struck near-Gem specimen is one of only 1,541 proofs minted. The 1879 was the first of the six proof-only issues that closed the Trade dollar series.
