    Description

    1880 Trade Dollar, PR63
    Strong Mirrors Under Colorful Toning

1880 T$1 PR63 PCGS. Not only was the 1880 Trade dollar the highest-mintage proof issue in the series, its production of 1,987 specimens was also the highest for any dollar-denominated proof issue until the silver-clad Eisenhower dollars of 1971. Nevertheless, the absence of any circulation strikes in 1880 puts added pressure on survivors, particularly nice ones like this piece. Each side boasts strong mirrors beneath blue-green, gold-rose, and silver-slate patina. A few minor hairlines are seen.
    Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4-5/2009), lot 937, where it realized $2,760.(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 27YS, PCGS# 7060)

    Weight: 27.22 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
