Description
PR64 Cameo 1880 Trade Dollar
1880 T$1 PR64 Cameo PCGS. The years 1879 through 1883 marked the "regular-issue" proof-only Trade dollars, as the fabulously rare 1884 and 1885 dates appear to be later clandestine "inside jobs." The 1880 had a proof mintage of 1,987 pieces. This near-Gem shows a generous amount of the desirable "silver-on-black" appearance, if a touch short of that required for a Deep Cameo label. A few light field hairlines account for the grade. Population: 44 in 64 Cameo, 28 finer (9/09).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27YS, PCGS# 87060, GSID# 7411)
