    1880 Trade Dollar, PR66
    Rare Deep Cameo Example

1880 T$1 PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS. Demand was high for the proof-only Trade dollar issue of 1880, sparked by a substantial speculation in the denomination that began the year before when no business-strike Trade dollars were struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Accordingly, a series-record mintage of 1,987 proof Trade dollars was accomplished that year, to satisfy collector demand. Despite the generous production total, relatively few examples have survived with Deep Cameo surfaces. This delightful Premium Gem offers razor-sharp definition on all design elements and the deeply mirrored fields contrast profoundly with the richly frosted devices. The mostly brilliant surfaces are impeccably preserved, with a few hints of pale gold and lavender toning. Eye appeal is terrific. Population: 2 in 66 Deep Cameo, 2 finer (3/19).(Registry values: N7079)
