    Description

1881 T$1 -- Altered Surfaces -- PCGS Genuine Secure. Proof, Unc. Details. This intricately struck specimen exhibits consistent light frost throughout the devices. The fields are slightly hazy but nonetheless reflective. No hairlines are readily apparent, but the untoned coin has likely been dipped. Proof-only Trade dollars were struck at Philadelphia each year between 1878 and 1885. Speculation crested with the 1880, and at 960 pieces, the 1881 has less than half the mintage of its predecessor.
