    Description

1881 T$1 PR62 PCGS. The proof-only mintage of 960 pieces represents a substantial reduction from the sky-high proof mintages of 1879 and 1880, when Trade dollar speculation was hyped by enterprising dealers. Smoky golden-gray toning reveals subtle iridescent colors when viewed from an advantageous angle. Well-mirrored and sharply struck, the coin displays a swath of deep-blue and russet toning at the lower-right reverse for added eye appeal. A few faint hairlines exist beneath the pleasing patina.(Registry values: N1793)
