Description

1881 Trade Dollar, PR65
Attractively Toned Example

1881 T$1 PR65 NGC. The proof mintage of 960 Trade dollars in 1881 was one of just three proof-only dates that had mintages below 1,000 pieces (of course we are not including the 1884 or 1885 in this discussion). Examples are usually frequently seen in the market place, even in Gem grades, but few have the eye appeal of this example, created through an incredible display of iridescent toning over fully mirrored fields. The strike is sharp, and the devices have frosty luster that stands out from the mirrors.
